Skunk tests positive for rabies in Jessamine County neighborhood
JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The Jessamine County Health Department says it has received a report that a skunk found of East Hickman Road tested positive for rabies.
The department is encouraging people with pets to make sure they’re updated on their rabies vaccinations.
Officials say rabies can be spread to people and pets through bites and scratches from an infected animal. The virus can be fatal.
The health department is warning people to take precautions with outdoor pets, wild animals or any animal acting abnormally.
