Murder suspects in Daniel Ellis murder case court hearing delayed
RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – UPDATE: Raleigh Sizemore and Gregory Ratliff did not appear before a judge on Monday morning. Their hearing was pushed back until Friday at 11:30 a.m.
RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) — Two of the men charged in connection to the murder of Richmond police officer Daniel Ellis will face a judge Monday.
Throughout the month of April, the defense has been arguing to move the trial out of Madison County to avoid a biased jury.
The prosecution wants Raleigh Sizemore and Gregory Ratliff to face a local jury.
The defense is also attempting to have the two tried separately.
Officer Ellis was killed back in November of 2015 at an apartment building while investigating a robbery.
Sizemore’s charges include murder of a police officer and illegal possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Ratliff is facing complicity to murder a police officer charges.
The hearing is scheduled for 9:30 am in Madison County. If the judge decides on a location, the case will likely go to trial in June.
