Sister Schubert visits Old Friends Retirement Farm
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – On Thursday, Old Friends, the Thoroughbred Retirement Farm located in Georgetown, KY., received a special visit from chef and cookbook author Sister Schubert.
Sister Schubert, a.k.a. Patricia Barnes, is also known nationwide for her delicious homemade bread found in the frozen-food sections of groceries across the country. On her current “Share Warmth” campaign and tour promoting her newest cookbook, “Celebrations from the Heart,” Barnes is dropping Sister Schubert’s® products off at non-profits and other organizations doing good across the South.
While in Kentucky, Barnes chose to visit the non-profit organization Old Friends, which is home to more than 100 retired Thoroughbreds, including two Kentucky Derby Champions, Silver Charm and War Emblem.
“Whatever goodness we share with one another comes from deep within our hearts. That’s where my baking comes from. That’s what I learned from my grandmother in the kitchen and what I hope to encourage others to tap into–no matter how they give back, volunteer, or show that they love their neighbors,” says Barnes.
