Sand sculpture rises at Triangle Park
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) -A sculpture made from 20 tons of sand is taking shape in downtown Lexington at Triangle Park.
“Sand in the City” is a temporary public art installation brought into being by the Downtown Lexington Corporation. The sculpture will stay in the park for about 3 weeks.
The sculpting is being done by Damon Farmer, a Woodford Co. artist who works in a variety of mediums but is best known as an international grandmaster sand sculptor. Farmer has been the World Champion, American Champion, and North American Sand Sculpting Champion multiple times. He has sculpted sand for display and competition events in China, Puerto Rico, Japan, Canada, Spain, Mexico, England, France and Italy as well as many locations in the USA.
