Simpson County deputy shot while serving warrant in Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ky. (AP) – A Simpson County deputy serving a warrant in Franklin has been shot and wounded.

Kentucky State Police Trooper B.J. Eaton says the suspect fired on the deputy, striking him. The deputy was able to return fire and also struck the suspect.

The suspect fled but was quickly apprehended, and both he and the deputy were hospitalized.

Eaton did not immediately have the names of the officer and suspect or their conditions.
