Simple traffic violation in Corbin leads to recovery of stolen vehicle, other felony charge

CORBIN, Ky. (WTVQ) – A traffic stop early Monday morning led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and felony charges. According to the Corbin Police Department, an officer observed a vehicle traveling on the Cumberland Falls Highway without a registration plate and initiated a traffic stop.
During the stop, the officer noticed a jar containing several hypodermic needles. According to Corbin police, the driver had been previously suspended for DUI and the vehicle was reported stolen out of Knox County.
After a search of the vehicle, Corbin police say the officer located suspected burglary tools that the driver reported belonged to him.
According to the Corbin Police Department, Mark Lawson, of Williamsburg, was arrested and charged with multiple traffic violations, receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police say Latasha Rains, of Rockholds, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
