Shots fired near EKU campus overnight
RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – A public safety alert was issued overnight on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond after a report of shots being fired near campus, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. The campus-wide alert was issued just after 2:30 a.m. and lifted at 3:15 a.m.
EKU officials say no one was hurt.
Madison County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle in front of the Moore Building on the EKU campus and four people were detained and questioned in connection to the shots fired report, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.
No names were released by investigators.
