Shooting leads to attempted murder charge

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A fight between two men landed one in the hospital with gunshot wounds and the other in jail, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say 45-year old Johnny Keith Snyder, of London, and James Earl Asher, of London, got into an altercation at Asher’s house on Wyatt Road shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Investigators say Snyder fired three shots at Asher, hitting him in the face and hand, causing serious injuries.

After the shooting, Snyder put Asher in a vehicle and drove him to a house he had been staying at on Wyatt Road. It was at that home Snyder was arrested and the handgun he reportedly used in the shooting was recovered, according to deputies.

Asher was airlifted to UK Hospital in Lexington, according to investigators.

Snyder was charged with attempted murder and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center in London.

Investigators did not indicate what the two men were reportedly fighting about.
