Shooter Risk Indices Could Prevent Next Shooting
Ray Sabbatine, who spent more than 20 years of his corrections career as an expert in inmate classification, has developed Shooter Risk Indices (SRI).
The indices rate a number of behavioral factors including a person’s ability to make good decisions and the person’s tendency to harm others.
Sabbatine believes when a person is determined to be high risk by the SRI and has access to a weapon, there should be concern.
The SRI also recommends mitigation factors that could help reduce the risk of a person becoming violent.
Sabbatine hopes to give the SRI to other experts to help validate the instrument so it can be used in the future.
