Sheriff: Woman hits daughter in car, then hits her with car
KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Knox County woman is accused of hitting her daughter while she was in a car, then hitting her with the car when she got out.
According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, deputies got a complaint about a drunk woman at a home on Payne’s Creek Road in Hinkle on Thursday.
When deputies got there, the woman ran off into the woods.
A short time later, a deputy spotted the woman driving a car near Valentine Branch Road and tried to get her to pull over. The deputy says the driver sped up and he could see her punching or slapping a passenger in the car while she was driving.
The driver then lost control of the car while going around a curve, spun around and hit the front of the deputy’s patrol car.
The deputy says the passenger in the car jumped out while the car was still in motion and she was struck by the car.
The passenger turned out to be the 12-year-old daughter of the driver.
The sheriff’s office says the driver, identified as Jennifer Maria Gray, attempted to get out of the car and run but the deputy arrested her.
Gray is charged with wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, fleeing or evading and resisting arrest.
She is currently in the Knox County Detention Center.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office say Gray’s daughter received minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
