Sheriff Warns Of Mail Scam In Lincoln County
Sheriff Curt Folger said people have received a letter in the mail stating that they had won a large sum of money through a lottery draw.
The winner is supposedly selected through a computerized draw system.
It states that the individual is entitled to a large sum of money and enclosed with a check that will pay the taxes on the winnings.
The letter tells the person to wait for further instructions in order to claim their winnings.
Don’t fall for it! The Sheriff said it is a scam.
The Sheriff said the bogus letter serves as a reminder to never give out personal or financial information to someone you don’t know.
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
