Sheriff: Suspect told deputies he was selling pot “to make some extra money”
WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Whitley County Sheriff says a man charged with drug trafficking gave a novel excuse for selling marijuana before being arrested.
According to Sheriff Colan Harrell, deputies were called to a home on Lot Depot Road on a complaint of drug trafficking.
When they got to the home, they say Regina and Carl Raney, both from Williamsburg, ran from the home toward a nearby wooded area. Both were caught and charged with public intoxication and fleeing or evading police.
Afterwards, deputies made contact with the homeowner and several other people inside the home, including 31-year-old Billy Wilde. When given consent to search the home, deputies say they found a cooler that had multiple baggies of marijuana inside, packaged for sale. According to an arrest report from the Sheriff, when asked about the marijuana, Billy Wilde told them he was “trying to make some extra money.”
Wilde was arrested and charged with possession and trafficking offenses.
All three were taken to the Whitley Co. Detention Center.
