SHERIFF: Laurel County car thief tackled by victim

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A car thief was taken down – literally – by the man whose car he stole, according to deputies.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to a report of a fight on Robert E. Cox Road near London on Thursday night.

When they arrived, the deputies found two men pinning another man to the ground.

According to deputies, 32-year-old Michael Taylor stole the car belonging to one of the men earlier in the day.

The man and his brother later spotted Taylor in the car. When Taylor got out of the car, the men approached him and say he became aggressive, so they took him to the ground in self-defense, according to deputies.

Deputies say Taylor became combative when they tried to arrest him and there was a brief scuffle before they were able to get handcuffs on him.

Taylor was charged with receiving stolen property and resisting arrest,
