Sheriff: Homeowner disarms, detains home invader

SOMERSET, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Pulaski Co. Sheriff says a Somerset man who invaded a home had his plans disrupted when the homeowner disarmed him and held him until law enforcement arrived.

The Sheriff says deputies received a 911 call about a home invasion on Wesley Chapel Road around 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday.  When they arrived, they found 32-year-old Shane D. Longlott Being detained by the homeowner.

The homeowner’s wife told deputies that she and her husband had heard someone kick open the backdoor of their home.  When he went to investigate, the homeowner found Longlott, armed with a shotgun.  The two struggled, with the homeowner eventually able to disarm Longlott.  Deputies say the homeowner kept ahold of Longlott until they arrived.

Longlott was wanted on a number of Pulaski Co. charges already, says the Sheriff, and was additionally charged with wanton endangerment, burglary, and criminal mischief, among other charges.

He was taken to the Pulaski Co. Detention Center.
