Sheriff: Driver was under the influence with baby in front seat

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Clay County man was arrested Monday for driving under the influence with his one year old son in an unsecured baby seat in the front seat of the car, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators say they received a complaint that a man, who was extremely intoxicated, was trying to drive away from St. Joseph Hospital in London with a baby in the front seat.

Sheriff’s deputies say they saw 36-year old Wesley Wagers of Manchester driving a maroon Chevy pickup truck, weaving badly on the road near the hospital. Investigators say after pulling Wagers over, he admitted to them that he had injected methamphetamine and had taken narco earlier in the day.

Investigators say Wagers was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – third offense; wanton endangerment 2nd degree; and failure to use child restraint device in vehicle. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
