Sheriff: Couple found passed out in car with unresponsive child
LAUREL CO., Ky. (WTVQ)- A couple was arrested Sunday in Laurel County after deputies say they found the two passed out in a vehicle with an unresponsive child.
The Laurel County Sheriff says a homeowner called at around 3 a.m. to report a strange car in his driveway off Echo Valley Road near London.
When deputies arrived, they say they found two people in the front seat of a Ford Expedition, with the engine still running.
Both were passed out.
They say they also found a two-year-old boy in the back seat and he appeared unresponsive.
An ambulance was called and the child was taken to the hospital in London.
The sheriff says he was later released.
Deputies took 21-year-old Kayla Grigsby and 25-year-old Joshua Grigsby into custody.
The sheriff says Kayla Grigsby told deputies she and her husband had been using meth, Percocets, and smoking marijuana earlier in the day.
Joshua Grigsby is charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, criminal child abuse, wanton endangerment, booster seat violation and numerous traffic violations.
Kayla Grigsby is charged with public intoxication and criminal child abuse.
