Sheriff: Children called 911 after being left home alone for 9 hours

CORBIN, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Corbin mother and a second woman are behind bars after the Knox Co. Sheriff says her children called 911 to report they had been left alone at home for 9 hours.

The Sheriff says the 911 call came in on Saturday at around 2:00 a.m.

When deputies went to the home on Poplar Grove Church Road, they called Social Services to take care of the children, ages 10 and 11, and waited for the mother, who arrived about an hour later.

After she stopped her car, deputies say they discovered that the mother, 37-year-old Michelle Brown, was intoxicated

She was arrested and charged with DUI, endangering the welfare of a minor, and possession of open alcohol.

A passenger with Brown, 29-year-old Tiffany E. Morgan, was also arrested on a charge of public intoxication.

Both were taken to the Knox Co. Detention Center.

Mugshots for Brown and Morgan were not available at the time of publication.
