Sexual harassment claim made against Fayette County coroner

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Fayette County coroner is being investigated for sexual harassment.

The Lexington Human Rights Commission confirms it is looking into sexual harassment allegations made against Gary Ginn.

The Human Resources Department for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government says it investigated and substantiated many of the claims, but tells ABC 36 it does not have control over the Fayette County Coroner’s Office beyond payroll because Ginn is an elected official

At that point, the complainant’s only recourse was to file a private lawsuit or have the Human Rights Commission investigate.

Officials with the commission say they are in the process of investigating the claim. They say if they find probable cause, it could go to a public hearing and Ginn could be admonished or have to pay damages.

Gary Ginn has not responded to ABC 36’s request for a comment.
