Sewer service in limbo for some Harrison Co. residents
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — The Kentucky Public Service Commission has authorized the abandonment of a municipal sewer system that serves several dozen homes in Harrison County.
The PSC suggested in an order that the county’s system take over the Cedarbrook sewer system, but the county has not committed to that. The Cedarbrook system served 52 homes.
The commission says if the county and Cedarbrook cannot agree on a takeover by April 15, the PSC will ask a judge to appoint the sanitation district as the temporary operator.
The PSC says Cedarbrook is not financially viable as a for-profit utility and its owner is no longer capable of providing service. The commission says in a release it is hoping the county would operate Cedarbrook until it can apply for and receive grant funding.
