Several crashes on I-75 in Madison County backed-up traffic for miles

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – People driving north on I-75 through Madison County on Tuesday afternoon had a long, frustrating trip as several crashes backed-up traffic for an estimated 17 miles at one point, according to investigators.

Kentucky State Police say it began when a tractor-trailer jackknifed in the northbound lanes at the Clays Ferry Bridge, which blocked all northbound lanes of traffic. That accident brought traffic to a standstill.

KSP says the initial crash led to several other collisions involving tractor-trailers in the same area.

No injuries were reported, according to State Police.

The cause of the crashes is under investigation, including looking at whether the rain and wet roads played a role.
