September now Fayette’s fourth-worst COVID month
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – September has now seen the fourth-highest amount of new COVID-19 cases reported in Fayette County since the pandemic began in March 2020.
And at the current pace, it could top December 2020 to become the third-worst month.
With 384 new cases Saturday-Monday, Lexington has had 5,438 cases through the first 27 days of the month. The city’s 7-day rolling average is at 176 new cases per day and the county now has recorded 47,764 cases since March 2020 and lost 363 residents to COVID-related causes.
According to the Lexington-Fayette County health Department’s morning report Tuesday, the seven-day moving average is down from 183 Monday, 184 Friday and more than 200 last week.
