Lexington’s yard waste collections resume Monday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Lexington’s Division of Waste Management says it will resume its normal yard waste collection schedule starting Monday, March 14.

It says yard waste containers, yard waste bundles and yard waste bags will receive weekly service, along with trash and recycling containers, on the regular collection day.

Back in February, the city implemented the winter yard waste collection protocol because of reduced seasonal demand. The city says yard waste service is available for residents throughout the winter protocol period on an as-needed basis. According to waste management, early calculations show the city will save $4,000 in fuel costs during the six weeks the winter protocol is in effect.

The city encourages people to use roll carts to dispose of their compostable yard waste. Those with city waste collection service who do not have a yard waste cart may request one by calling LexCall at 311 or (859) 425-2255. Requests can also be made online here.
