Sen. Paul visits Lexington to talk healthcare reform

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Senator Rand Paul was in Lexington this morning as a part of his statewide tour to promote healthcare reform.

Senator Paul hosted a healthcare reform round table at Tac Air where he spoke to local healthcare leaders and discussed ways to improve the country’s healthcare system.

Paul heard from leaders in both the medical and insurance fields.

The morning round-table focused mainly on ways to improve health insurance to make it more accessible to people and also ways to cut back regulations put on doctors and hospitals.

While last months bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act failed in the senate, Sentor Paul says he will not stop fighting for reform even if that means starting at the state level.

“The one thing I’ve been pushing a lot is these health associations. We have them federally which I think is the best way to go but we also have Kentucky health associations and I think there are ways we can expand them,” said Sen. Paul.

On his way out the senator was also asked his opinion on the escalating tension between President Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Paul said that he has full faith in McConnell to do his job.
