Sen. Mitch McConnell recovering after fall at U.S. Capitol
WASHINGTON, D.C. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, of Kentucky, is recovering after a fall at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.
The 82-year-old senator reportedly fell down a small set of stairs after leaving the Senate chamber following a confirmation vote for Housing and Urban Development nominee Scott Turner.
Senators Steve Daines and Markwayne Mullin reportedly assisted McConnell after the fall. While it remains unclear if he suffered any injuries, reports indicate he appeared to be OK.
As of now, McConnell’s office has not released a statement regarding the incident.
