Second weather make-up day announced for FCPS students

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Winter weather disruptions are continuing to affect the school calendar for Fayette County Public Schools, and district leaders say more make-up days could be added later this year.

Because of snow days and nontraditional instruction days tied to the winter storm, FCPS says it has now used four NTI days and 10 snow days so far this school year.

Previously, March 20 had already been confirmed as a weather make-up day for students. Now, district officials have announced a second make-up day: Monday, April 13 — the day after spring break.

That date was originally scheduled as a work day for staff, without students.

FCPS officials say additional make-up days could still be announced as the school year continues, depending on how many instructional days are ultimately required.

Families are encouraged to keep an eye on district updates as the calendar is finalized.
