Second measles case in Kentucky confirmed
FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky health officials have confirmed the state’s second measles case of the season.
According to the Kentucky Department for Public Health, the case involved a child from another country who was traveling through the state in March.
Officials say the child was diagnosed at a healthcare facility in Kentucky, where strict safety protocols were followed. Because of those precautions, the risk of the virus spreading to other patients was eliminated.
Health officials continue to monitor for any additional cases and are reminding the public that measles is highly contagious but preventable with vaccination.
