Second finalist interviews for Fayette Co. superintendent job
She spent Thursday afternoon touring schools and says she already has a plan to get things done.
"I want to build on the success, because this is a wonderful, wonderful district,” Terri Breeden says. “But we do have some urgent matters that the state has brought to our attention, about closing the gaps and that some of our schools are not performing as we wish they would."
A reception at held at Dunbar High School Thursday evening gave the community a chance to meet Breeden and ask her questions about her plans for the district and her history.
According to Fayette County Public Schools, Breeden started her current role in Loudoun – a school district of 80,000 students on the outskirts of Washington D.C. – in 2014. She previously served as an Assistant Superintendent in the Fairfax County Public Schools – a district of 181,000 students in Virginia – and an Executive Director of grades 5-12 in the Metropolitan Nashville Schools – a district of 75,000 students in Tennessee.
She taught elementary and middle school in Nashville for 12 years, and has been an assistant principal and principal. Breeden holds a bachelor’s degree in education, two master’s degrees in education and a doctorate in education.
Fayette County School’s Board Chairman John Price also revealed that they are considering two more potential candidates. They will be doing Skype interviews with them on Saturday.
