Sears to close 68 Kmart, 5 in Kentucky, this summer

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) –  Five Kmart stores in Kentucky are closing.

Sears, which merged with Kmart in 2005, says it will close 68 Kmarts this summer, along with ten sears stores.

Here in Kentucky, two Kmart stores in Louisville, along with stores in Maysville, Paintsville, and Elizabethtown will close.

Sears says this is a difficult but necessary move to help strengthen the company and make it profitable.
