Search underway for escaped inmate from Madison County facility

RICHMOND, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky State Police is searching for an inmate who escaped from the Bluegrass Career Development Center in Madison County Thursday evening.

Troopers say 26-year-old Jeremy D. Ward of Hartford walked away from the facility around 7:30 p.m. Ward is described as 5-foot-8, about 120 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes, and tattoos on his neck and chest. He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, camouflage sweatpants, and white shoes.

According to investigators, Ward was serving time for several charges, including drug trafficking, burglary, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

State Police say Ward has ties to western Kentucky — particularly the Hartford, Owensboro, and Beaver Dam areas — and could be in one of those communities.

Anyone who spots Ward or has information on his location is asked to call Kentucky State Police Post 7 in Richmond at 859-623-2404 or contact local law enforcement.
