Search teams find “items of interest” looking for missing couple
WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ)- No one disclosed what the “items of interest” found during a Clark County weekend search were, but they feel it has them looking in the right place for Bobby Jones and Crystal Warner, missing since July 3rd.
According to police, 52-year-old Craig Pennington killed the couple from Florence, although neither Jones nor Warner’s bodies have been found. Pennington was indicted on murder charges last week in Washington County.
Monday, family and friends of the couple were waiting to hear what happened in court, as Pennington was scheduled for a preliminary hearing. The Washington County Circuit Clerk says that appearance was canceled though due to the indictment.
ABC 36 spoke with Jaclyn Roberts, ex-wife of Jones and mother to his three sons.
“You know, I spent last night up until 4 a.m., and I’m just crying and it just comes and it goes and you laugh and you see things that remind you and you know, you’re just lost, you’re just broken,” shared Roberts. When asked about closure, she had another response.
“We would love to be able to do that if we find their bodies but right now, I’m just totally at a loss. ”
Roberts says she’s overwhelmed with the outpouring of support from friends, family, and complete strangers. That support has even come from the world of sports. Kentucky men’s basketball head coach, John Calipari sent Roberts’ sons an autographed photo and a letter, offering his condolences.
For friends of Jones’, like Ty Brown, the search won’t end until the couple is found.
“You know, we’ll do it again and keep up until we find him.”
