Search for semi driver after hit-and-run
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Authorities are looking for the driver of a semi who reportedly hit an SUV and drove-off, leaving the SUV driver seriously injured, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say 35-year old Michael Gilley of Barbourville was traveling southbound on KY 229, approximately 8-miles south of London on Monday afternoon, when his SUV was struck by a northbound dark colored tractor-trailer coal hauler.
Investigators say the semi driver drove off from the accident scene and hasn’t been seen since. The tractor-trailer has damage to the front driver side of the tractor.
Gilley was airlifted to UK Hospital in Lexington. Anyone with information that could help investigators find the semi and its driver, call the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office at 606-864-6600 or 606-878-7000.
