Search For Driver Involved In Laurel County Crash
Authorities in Laurel County are looking for a driver that ran from a crash that left two children injured.
The Laurel County Sheriff’s office says Elmer Oakley, 30, was driving a chevy blazer at a high rate of speed at 8:46 p.m. Monday on Hawk Creek Road when it went off the road and hit a tree sideways.
The sheriff said six people were in the car at the time but only one person was at the scene when they arrived.
They later located four other occupants including a woman and her 8-year-old and 9-year-old sons.
The sheriff said the woman and her sons had injuries from the crash and were taken to the hospital.
Oakley is expected to be charged with driving under the influence among several other charges.
The sheriff said this will be Oakley’s third DUI.
