Search for answers continues after mass shooting in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The investigation is ongoing following last week’s deadly mass shooting at El Cid Restaurant on National Avenue. The Fayette County Coroner has confirmed that 31-year-old Antoine Clay, who was shot early Friday morning, died at UK Hospital from his injuries. The shooting, which occurred just after midnight, also left five others injured, though they are expected to survive.

Lexington Police are actively seeking surveillance footage from people and businesses in the area that may be connected to the shooting. At this time, no suspects have been identified.

Clay’s death marks the ninth homicide in Lexington for 2024. By this time last year, the city had recorded fourteen homicides.
