Scott County Sheriff announces he’s running for state representative
GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) — Long-time Scott County Sheriff Tony Hampton has announced he’ll be running for state representative.
Hampton has been with the sheriff’s department for three decades, spending the last 13 years as sheriff.
He’ll be running for the seat currently occupied by State Representative Phillip Pratt, who announced earlier this week he will not be seeking re-election.
Hampton says he’s looking forward to continuing to represent and serve his community.
“So the law enforcement being sheriff, I’m a lifelong resident here. I know this community. I love this community. I’m a community servant. I just am and I, I can’t see me doing anything other than that. So that’s why I chose this to continue to serve just in a different capacity. But I’ll still be right here in Scott County. This is my home. This is the county I love, but I also love this Commonwealth as well,” says Hampton.
Pratt’s term will officially end on December 31, 2024.
