Scott County Board of Education accepts construction bid for new high school

SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Scott County Board of Education has accepted a bid for the construction of the County’s new high school, according to the district.

Thursday night board members considered bids for the construction of Great Crossing High School, finally awarding the bid to D.W. Wilburn, Inc. from Lexington. That bid is $59,126,000.

The school will host 1,500 students, but will have capacity for 1,930. It will include an athletic complex with football, soccer, track, baseball, and softball fields.Those facilities will be bid separately.

The project’s total cost is expected to be $69,502,412.

The district says two bids were submitted for the project.

A groundbreaking will be held on the property at 120 Betsy Way at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017. The school is expected to open in August 2019.
