Schools closed in Laurel, Pulaski Counties due to storm damage
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Schools in both Laurel and Pulaski counties are closed as communities recover from Friday night’s deadly storms.
The Laurel County Public School District says classes are canceled as many students and families were directly impacted by the severe weather. The district’s Family Resource and Youth Service Centers are actively reaching out to offer support and counseling to affected students.
In neighboring Pulaski County, school officials also canceled classes Monday, citing widespread power outages and storm debris blocking roadways. The district says it hopes to resume classes on Tuesday.
Emergency crews and volunteers continue working across the region to restore power and clear storm damage.
