Saul Good hosting Waves of Mercy fundraiser tonight

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) -Local restaurant Saul Good is looking to help out a Versailles-based mission group after a cargo ship carrying a year’s worth of supplies for Haitian orphans was sunk at sea by Hurricane Joaquin.

To help recoup the losses, all three Saul Good Restaurant locations will contribute 50-percent of their restaurant sales from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. today to Waves of Mercy.

“Our hope is to get the word out about this urgent need and to provide assistance in some small way. We know how generous the Lexington community is and hope that this story encourages everyone to give to this wonderful, local organization,” says Rob Perez, owner of Saul Good.

Handson Jean-Baptiste, a Haitian pastor, and the co-founders of Waves of Mercy are in town to raise support. They will be present at the October 21st fundraiser. The sunken cargo ship was carrying medicine, shoes, Christmas gifts, and other items that had been collected by volunteers over an entire year.

Donations outside of the dine-in fundraiser are highly encouraged and can be made at any time. Donate to Waves of Mercy at www.mercysaves.org.
