Rupp Arena: Check your Taylor Swift tickets

LEXINGTON, KY (WTVQ) – Thousands of people packed into Rupp Arena on Tuesday night for the Taylor swift concert. Arena management warned people about ticket scams.

People wear lined up all day. Rupp reminded everyone to their print tickets out because they were not able to scan the bar code on their cell phones.

About 17-thousand people attended the event.

Rupp Arena was concerned about counterfeit tickets purchased through secondary market ticket brokers like Craigslist or StubHub. It says it’s a problem for the entire concert industry.

Arena management says the Taylor Swift 1989 tour has seen a lot of counterfeit tickets in other cities and if the ticket wasn’t brought from a valid site. They say there’s nothing they can do.

According to Carl Hall, Director of Arena Management, “The patron needs to be aware of the many problems that can occur when purchasing tickets through a secondary ticket service. Rupp Arena utilizes Ticketmaster as its exclusive ticketing service. For the patron to be assured the tickets are legitimate they should be purchased at either the Rupp Arena Ticket Office or through an authorized Ticketmaster outlet. Unfortunately, it is very common for tickets purchased through a secondary ticket service to be invalid. Please remember to check your tickets prior to coming to the show and if they need to be printed to do so before arriving as we do not print tickets on site for any secondary ticket service.”
