Rumors Circulate Coach Cal Could Stay At Kentucky
Neither Arkansas or Kentucky Has Released Statement On Calipari Contract Status

Still no official word if John Calipari has signed with Arkansas to be the Razorback’s new head coach, but sources tell ABC36 that the University of Kentucky was not notified by Coach Cal that he was in talks this past weekend in Fayetteville, which could lead to complications.
Rumors Sunday night swirled around Lexington and the sports world that Coach Cal was in Arkansas, and was getting ready to finalized a deal 24-hours from Sunday. That since has not happened. After the 2019 season, Calipari signed a lifetime (10-year) contract with Kentucky. The 16-page contract, reviewed by ABC36 anchor Faran Foster and the ABC36 Sports Director Jeff Piecoro.
What can be confirmed as of this report, both Arkansas and Kentucky have not released a statement on whether or not Calipari has signed a contract at Arkansas. Kentucky, in particular Athletic Director Mitch Barnhardt, has not released a statement whether or not Calipari notified the school he was going to allegedly talk to Arkansas.
Per Calipari’s contract, in point four, Calipari is required to notify the athletic director of any offers of employment, requests for meetings, even discussions involving any possible employment before substantive discussions happen.
On page 10, specifically 10(a), the University can terminate Calipari’s agreement for “cause” where no compensation will be paid beyond the date of termination. “Cause” could be a number of different things, but according to ABC36 sources, if Calipari did in fact not notify Kentucky about his alleged talks with Arkansas, it legally could be considered a breach of contract.
