Rowan County officials to retire a week early
ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Kim Davis says she will quit her job a week early. She lost in her bid for election last month.
Davis was the clerk who went to jail for a few days in 2015, when she refused to issue same-sex marriage licenses.
Kim Davis says she’s quitting her job a week before her term ends because serving into January will delay her retirement and health benefits.
County Judge-Executive Walter Blevins is doing the same thing.
Davis was the clerk who went to jail for a few days in 2015, when she refused to issue same-sex marriage licenses.
The governor announced Wednesday he would appoint Harry Clark as judge-executive.
Clark will then appoint Elwood Caudill Junior to be county clerk. He’s the man who beat Davis.
