Rowan County man charged with murder after mother and daughter found dead

ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky State Police say they located 44-year-old Joshua Cottrell at a Paducah-area hospital Friday afternoon, where he was treated and released before being taken into custody.

Cottrell has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of tampering with physical evidence. He is currently being held at the McCracken County Jail.

As previously reported, Rowan County officials discovered a mother and daughter unresponsive during a welfare check. The Rowan County coroner pronounced 37-year-old Kayla Blake and her 13-year-old daughter, Kennedy McWhorter, dead at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing.
