Rowan County High School principal re-assigned, following student walk-out

ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Following a walk-out on Monday, by dozens of rowan county high school students in protest of their principal Jordan Mann, officials with the school tell us he has been reassigned to other duties for the remainder of the school year.

Officials say an acting principal will be named shortly.

The walk-out on Monday, stemmed from a civil lawsuit naming Mann, that’s according to The Courier Journal.

The lawsuit ties Mann and his handling of past misconduct by former girls’ soccer coach, Andrew Zaheri now in federal prison serving child pornography and child sex abuse charges, in connection with a former player.

A petition was also started demanding the removal of the principal.

Officials with the school district say that the top priority is to maintain a safe, peaceful and positive environment at the school.
