Rowan County Fiscal Court awards $457,397 for resurfacing work
FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Rowan County Fiscal Court had a meeting on Tuesday, during which the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) Department of Rural and Municipal Aid Commissioner Gray Tomblyn II announced $457,397 in discretionary funds for resurfacing work on more than five miles of roadway.
Rowan County Judge-Executive Harry Clark identified the road work as critical to meet the county’s needs for transportation safety and economic development.
“We are fortunate the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet understands these needs and provides this amount of assistance,” said Judge-Executive Clark. “A portion of this funding will be used to resurface the MMRC Industrial Complex, a regional complex providing jobs not only for Rowan County but across the region. This complex is the first impression many new businesses see when looking to relocate and, simply put, we just could not have accomplished this without the help of the state.”
Projects submitted to the Department of Rural and Municipal Aid for discretionary fund consideration were evaluated by the KYTC district staff to assess the condition of roads and determine the most critical needs based on factors such as safety, economic impact, and traffic volumes.
The Rowan County Fiscal Court is responsible for administering the work, and KYTC will reimburse the county for the projects.
Resurfacing work will address:
- Industry Road (County Road 1425) from milepoint 0 to milepoint 1.404
- Lake Park Drive (County Road 1429) from milepoint 0 to milepoint 0.374
