UPDATE: Suspect in series of snatched purses arrested in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police in Lexington say they have arrested a man they say was involved in a string of purse robberies in the last week.

Officers say Adam Wade may have been involved in seven robberies this week; five of those just this weekend, including one on Saturday during which the suspect broke a woman’s leg who tried to get her purse through his car window as he was driving away.

On Monday, Wade was arrested after reportedly stealing someone’s purse at the Walmart on New Circle Road and Russell Cave Road.

Police say they tried to pull him over, but he was able to drive away.  He was later picked up by undercover officers near Eastland Drive and New Circle Road.

A mugshot for Wade was not immediately available.

Robbery in Hamburg leaves a woman with a broken leg

A woman is healing after she broke her leg this weekend while trying to get her purse back in the Hamburg area.

Police say Saturday afternoon that woman tried to jump into a car window to get her stolen purse, but she fell and the man driving the car ran her over.

Officers say this man has made seven robberies this week; five of those just this weekend.

He drives a gray Eclipse.
