Rob Dillingham drafted eighth overall to the Spurs, traded to T-Wolves

Dillingham and Reed Sheppard both drafted in the top ten overall picks

BROOKLYN, NY. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – After watching his former teammate Reed Sheppard get drafted third overall to the Houston Rockets, Rob Dillingham had his own moment.

The San Antonio Spurs selected the 6-foot 3 176 pound point guard from North Carolina with the eighth overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

But, according to ESPN, the Minnesota Timberwolves traded for Dillingham’s rights and he is now on their team.

Dillingham played one year with the Wildcats before forgoing the rest of his college eligibility and declaring for the NBA Draft.

During his time at Kentucky, he averaged 15.2 points, 3.9 assists and 1.0 steals per game.

Dillingham, who fans called “Shifty,” connected on 47.5% of his shots from the field and 44.4% of his attempts from three-point range.

At the end of his college campaign, the now Spur had scored a total of 64 three-pointers.  The former freshman hit double-figure scoring in 27 games, including eight games with 20 points or more.

He was tabbed the Southeastern Conference Sixth Man of the Year.
