Road marking to take place in Fayette County

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is warning drivers about some upcoming closures because of roadway striping operations.

According to a release, crews will be out applying thermoplastic markings on two major roads in Lexington.

Thermoplastic is the material used in striping lanes and crosswalks, as well as certain parking lots, etc.

The release says temporary closures are necessary for the work to be completed.

Here is the information supplied by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet:

Friday, March 29 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

West Main Street/US 25

  • one lane will be closed between milepoints 13 – 14
  • two lanes will remain open for traffic
  • this location is by the old courthouse

New Circle Road/KY 4 – Inner Loop

  • operations will be in effect for the Alumni Drive Exit 16 Off Ramp
  • a partial and/or full closure could be necessary
  • motorists will be diverted to utilize open lanes

All work/closures are subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
