Richmond Tourism Gets a New Home

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ)- Richmond Tourism is moving to a new home, a project they’ve been working on for over two years. When thinking of Kentucky History, most of the notable characters have called Richmond their home. Richmond Tourism has been pursuing purchasing and renovating the former home of Brutus Clay, the son on Cassius Clay. Located at 531 West Main Street and the home was built in 1926. Richmond, Kentucky is blessed to be the home of two State Parks, White Hall Historic Site and Fort Boonesborough, and second largest Civil War Battlefield.  Richmond is a town that history truly does come alive.

The city of Richmond was founded in 1798 and has a robust history beginning with the pioneer settlers, to the Civil War and beyond.  With such a rich history, and thriving restaurant and retail scene, Richmond has long been a magnet for visitors. Conveniently located on I-75 minutes south of Lexington in Kentucky’s fabled Bluegrass Region.  Explore the full-scale fort of pioneer legend Daniel Boone–Fort Boonesborough State Park.  Visit White Hall State Historic House, a 44-room Italianate mansion that was home to Cassius Clay, the namesake for Muhammed Ali.  Enjoy championship Gibson Bay Golf Course.  Tour the Civil War Battle of Richmond, part of the Civil War Trust National Discovery Trail and the Kentucky Civil War Heritage Trail.   Enjoy Chenault.  See Hummel Planetarium, ride historic Valley View Ferry, take a walking tour, and shop beautiful Historic Downtown Richmond.
