Richmond Road Baptist Church holds funeral for mother and daughter killed in Lexington shooting rampage
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — One week after a deadly shooting rampage shook the Richmond Road Baptist Church community, members gathered Sunday to say a final goodbye to the pastor’s wife and her daughter.
A joint funeral service was held at the church for 72-year-old Beverly Gumm and her daughter, 34-year-old Christina Combs, who were killed in last Sunday’s attack.
Family members say Beverly’s husband, Pastor Jerry Gumm, and Christina’s husband, Randy Combs, are still recovering from multiple gunshot wounds at UK Hospital.
Police shot and killed the suspect, 47-year-old Guy House, outside the church following the attack. Investigators say the violence began when House shot Kentucky State Police Trooper Jude Remilien near Blue Grass Airport earlier that day. Trooper Remilien remains hospitalized, recovering from his injuries, according to KSP.
