Richmond Police release new information in double-murder cold case

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – Richmond Police hope releasing new information will help solve a three-year old double-murder cold case.

Karen Simpson and Avery “Boochie” Evans were found murdered in their home off Valley Street in Richmond in June of 2014.

Since the killings, investigators have talked to a number of “persons of interest,” but no one has ever been arrested or charged in the case.

On Friday, investigators released a new description of someone they’re looking for from the night before the couple was found dead.

Police describe the young man as being light-skinned African-American, around 16-or-17 years old with short dreadlocks, wearing dark shorts and a striped shirt.  They say he had a backpack with a red emblem.  Investigators say he appeared to have blood on his hands and shirt and appeared to be disoriented or scared while walking along Valley Street.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the Richmond Police Department at 859-623-1162.

There is a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the unsolved case.
