Richmond PD: Man Offers Victim Ride, Then Robs Him

Richmond Police said a man accepted a ride from strangers Friday night and was robbed.

The man told officers that he had been walking on Lexington Road when a minivan pulled up and a male passenger offered him a ride.

The victim told police that after he climbed into the back of the van, the male passenger pulled out a pocket knife and demanded money.

Police said the victim gave the man $20 and got out of the van.

According to investigators, the victim was able to give police the van’s license plate number.

Officers reportedly spotted the vehicle a short time later in a Central Liquor parking lot.

Police arrested Jeffery J. Robinson, 44, Richmond, in connection with the robbery.

Officers said they found a pocket knife on Robinson that matched the description from the victim.
